道後オンセナート2018 / Dogo onsenart 2018

For the first time in 4 years, “Dogo Onsen (Hot Spring)” in Matsuyama, Ehime, held an art festival “Dogo ONSENART 2018” that kicked off in September 2017. Artist unit “magma” exhibited their new installation piece “ゆ男女♨︎” (which translates to “Hot Spring Bath, Men/Women”) by the entrance to Dogo Shopping Street right by Dogo Station for a period between September 2018 and February 2019. Below is magma’s comment on their installation piece: We integrated 『ゆ』, 『男』, 『女』, 『♨』, the representative symbols for onsen, and formed a new pictogram. We layered the pictogram and gave it enough thickness so that it stood alone as a 3D installation. We created with the hope this piece will become the new symbol for Dogo Onsen Shopping Street and every passerby.

愛媛県松山市「道後温泉」では2017年９月より、４年ぶりとなるアートの大祭「道後オンセナート2018」を開催。 magmaは、2018年9月~2019年2月の期間、道後温泉駅前商店街の入り口に新作”ゆ男女♨︎”を展示。 以下magmaからの作品コメント。 温泉で見られる代表的なシンボル『ゆ』、『男』、『女』、『♨』を合体させ、新しい温泉マークをつくりました。 このマークを、自立できるまで分厚く重ね合わせ、立体的な彫刻にしました。 道後温泉の商店街で、街ゆく人の新たなシンボルとなることを願って。
